As engineers move from technical to project or leadership roles, the importance of a strong financial skill set grows. Financial acumen allows engineers to develop an understanding of the impact of their decisions on the broader organisation, align their decisions with an organisation’s strategic objectives and improve project performance.
This two-day course will ensure you understand fundamental financial concepts and principles, key financial variables and metrics (and their interrelationship), and opportunities to positively influence financial results. The course uses unique financial models, practical examples, thought-provoking case studies, group discussions, and quizzes to develop your financial acumen.
Upon completion of the course, you'll be able to define and use financial terminology, interpret balance sheets and income statements, appreciate strategic financial goals and priorities, better evaluate financial issues and performance, communicate more effectively with senior managers and financial personnel, explain how individual projects influence financial productivity, and justify proposals or recommendations from a financial perspective.
