This two-day course (one-day when undertaken in-house), will help you identify strategies to improve your technical writing skills. You will be provided with practical writing tasks to help you turn theory into practice.
Upon completion you'll be able to tailor your writing to suit different audiences and implement strategies to prioritise and categorise information. You'll also be able to implement writing techniques to create clear and consistent documents, ensuring your reader remains engaged.
You will be asked to submit a sample writing piece prior to the course commencement. This piece will be referred to throughout the course.

Create clear and concise technical documents and demonstrate the flexibility of writing for different audiences, from experts to non-experts. Participants will also apply a readability formula to their own documents.
Learn how to write 'correct' paragraphs and well-constructed sentences, while using words that avoid confusion and ambiguity.
Understand the relevance of correct grammar and punctuation.
Achieve a consistent, clear and uncluttered look to technical documents. Learn the appropriate numbering systems for long documents; know the current standard regarding integrating graphics into text.
You will have opportunities throughout the course to review participants’ sample documents, including reports, tenders, specifications, correspondence or emails.
Apply effective proofreading strategies
Learn strategies to be more effective when proofreading and how to give and receive feedback.
