Risk Management Fundamentals

Engineering context

Projects failures are rarely caused by poor engineering.  Instead big delays and budget blowouts are usually caused by events that the project team didn’t anticipate and often couldn’t prevent.  Yet such events are almost always predictable and their disastrous effects can usually be avoided – this is the reason to invest in risk management.

In this half-day introductory level workshop, you’ll learn practical skills in project risk management. Working with other participants, you’ll identify, assess and mitigate risks for a real world project.

The case study will highlight common risks in engineering, construction and operations projects – you’ll learn how to predict, prevent and solve these problems.

Once you’ve completed this workshop, you'll be able to effectively support risk management and use a risk register.
