This one-day practicum is run exclusively by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the internationally recognised leader in training for engineers and technical professionals.
Directly following the two-day Pumping Systems Design for Engineers course, this practicum allows participants to apply the skills learned in the preceding course.
Both water and wastewater pumping stations are covered. Design topics include typical design scenarios; project basis of design; development of actual pumping system curves; selection of suitable pumps from manufacturer’s pump curves; geometric wet well design and other equipment selection criteria.
You’ll learn which engineering relationships apply to specific pumping situations, theoretical hydraulics with practical pump station and system design and the latest approaches in wet well design, including the new Hydraulic Institute/ANSI Design Standards.
This practicum is for you if you’re a civil, design, mechanical or electrical engineer, a consulting engineer, a project manager, specification writer, construction and mechanical contractor, plant superintendent or operator, or an approval agency plan reviewer.
It will only be of benefit to those who have already participated in the Pumping Systems Design for Engineers course.
David J. Hanna, P.E., M.ASCE is professional engineer and graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with an MS in Environmental Engineering, and a BS in Marine Engineering/Mechanical from the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
Mr Hanna is a Professor at Ferris State University with faculty responsibilities in the construction management and surveying engineering programs. Before joining the university, he spent 18 years working for several consulting engineering and construction management firms.
He has designed numerous pumping stations and pumping systems associated with water and wastewater projects. His experience includes design, construction administration, construction installation and quality control, as well as evaluation and troubleshooting of existing pumping and treatment facilities.
He is a member of ASCE and has been an instructor with the ASCE Continuing Education Division since 1999.
